THE MANSIONS OF THE LORD

“To fallen soldiers let us sing”, the opening words of “The Mansions of the Lord” and the first words heard in what proved to be a superb evening of music and a fitting tribute to those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.

The occasion, a Gala Concert of Remembrance in support of the Royal British Legion in the magnificent “Mansion of the Lord” that is St. Mary’s Church, Tenby.

From the first notes of the bagpipes to the dying note of the Welsh National Anthem, the large
appreciative audience were treated to a feast of quality musical offerings from CMDC, under the faultless leadership of Elaine Robins (MD) and the sensitive hands of D. Huw Rees at the piano. All delivered with the power and passion which have become the choir’s hallmark.

Our guests for the evening were the excellent Goodwick Brass Band who produced a dynamic and hugely entertaining programme under their inspiring conductor Joshua Ruck.

The whole event held many moving moments and was steered to its conclusion in the Act of Remembrance by Philip Howells (Vice President of CMDC and Compere for the evening)

The event was principally organised by David Stewart Walvin (CMDC)
