THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN

Philip Howells, compere for this return to Wantage concert, reminded the large audience in the Parish Church that this was our ninth concert in the town and our first for five years. Were we pleased to be back? The quality of what ensued clearly answered that question from the quiet restraint of Franz Schubert’s “Sanctus” to the vigour and complexity of “Gwinllan a Roddwyd” and visits to a wide variety of styles and emotions which showcase the power and subtlety that is C.M.D.C.

We were delighted to welcome ‘CARITAS’ a children’s choir under the direction of Sheenagh Dernie who captivated the audience with the freshness and beauty of their sound. The evening was further enhanced by our soprano soloist Rhianna Owen, a young women who is surely destined for a great future career.

We count ourselves fortunate in the choir to have the services of a group of consummate musicians in the shape of our music team in Rhiannon Williams (Musical Director), Elaine Robins (Deputy Conductor and Accompanist) and Scott Williams (Organ). Our regular and much loved accompanist, Sian Davies, was sadly missing on this occasion due to illness and we wish her a speedy recovery.
