SURVIVING THE INFERNO

The afternoon of 13th July saw the choir perform an open air concert in the extreme heat in the magical setting of the ruins of St Dogmaels Abbey. Fitting then that our first performance of Giulio Caccini’s ‘Ave Maria’ was delivered with great sensitivity in such a setting. The remainder of the programme being an eclectic variety of styles found in modern day Male Choirs’ repertoires. This variety matched only by the range of headgear worn by the choristers in defence against the scorching sun.

The choir was led in their inimitable style by our superb music team of Elaine Robbins (MD) and Sian Davies (Accompanist), with our items introduced by our own Barrie Forster (a native of St Dogmaels) and our whole contribution enhanced by the Ladies’ Support Group resplendant in national costume.

Providing excellent additional entertainment for the large audience were the beautiful voices of local artistes and cousins Essylt and Ffion Thomas.

The event was sponsored by Llwybrau Llen, a project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
