FROM ZERO TO HERO

An apt description of many of the brave men who, in spite of having little or no experience of singing, came together and formed ‘MEN UNITED IN SONG’, in order to support the work of Prostate Cymru. The aim to learn enough to put on a concert in 9 weeks from signing up to the project. This tall order was to learn six songs in time to perform a prestigious concert in the hugely impressive Dora Stoutzger Hall, Cardiff, on October 31st – a task which came to fruition splendidly on the night.

The event was shared with COR MEIBION DE CYMRU delivering a set of performances of significant power and passion. The climax came when the choirs combined under the inspiring leadership of D.Huw Rees and accompanied by the faultless playing of Sian Gwawr Davies in an emotional rendering of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, which was met with a standing ovation from the large, enthusiastic audience.

Further delights were provided by exemplary performances from Ceri Heddwyn Davies (Tenor)
and Loud Applause Rising Stars, Lauren Elizabeth Williams and Connor Horton.

Guiding us throughout was the ever erudite Garry Owens.

This ambitious project was planned and driven by Guy Edwards of C.M.D.C. supported by choir members in a variety of roles. The fervent hope is that the men who involved themselves in this challenging adventure will be inspired to continue seeking future pleasure in the joy of singing. Perhaps even with C.M.D.C.
