PASSING THE PROVERBIAL BATON

Our rehearsal at Cwmafan on Sunday last proved memorable in many ways. The newly appointed members of the Music Team, D. Huw Rees (M.D.); Jack Harries (Deputy M.D. and Conductor of Towy Valley Group) and Dorothy Singh (Accompanist of Towy Valley Group) were formally introduced by Chairman Gwynlais Phillips and welcomed to the choir. What followed was a rehearsal full of energy and hope for the future enjoyed by all concerned and much enhanced by the welcome involvement of a significant number of choristers from the newly renamed Morriston Male Voice Choir. They as associate choristers will be joining us for our September Concert in St. David’s Cathedral. We look forward to working with them.
 
The afternoon began with the formal presentation of a farewell gift to retiring M.D. Elaine Robins to whom many glowing tributes were paid for almost 25 years of service to the choir, 20 of which as M.D. Elaine presented her final emotional annual report whereupon she was honoured by being appointed as a Vice President and received a framed letter of thanks from our royal patron King Charles.
A significant milestone in the unfolding journey of C.M.D.C.
