TEN BANDSTANDS CHALLENGE – 31ST MAY 2026

UNIQUE, AMBITIOUS, INNOVATIVE

The Welsh male voice choir tradition is far from fading. It remains a powerful cultural force – but to keep it thriving for future generations, it must be celebrated, supported and re-imagined for a modern Wales. With this ambition, Côr Meibion De Cymru is launching a unique and innovative annual event designed to showcase South Wales as a vibrant, post-industrial, confident, music loving nation.

10 BANDSTANDS, 1 DAY, ACROSS THE BREADTH OF SOUTH WALES

On 31 May 2026, the choir will undertake the 10 Bandstands Challenge – creating a “red wave of singing” across the breadth of South Wales. Beginning at 7:00am at The Rath Bandstand in Milford Haven, the choir will perform ten short concerts in a single day, travelling east via iconic locations including Tenby’s Castle Hill Bandstand and Llandeilo’s Penlan Park, before reaching Belle Vue Park in Newport and concluding around 8:00pm in Cardiff’s Victoria Park.

This ambitious musical journey will highlight the energy, heritage and community spirit that define Welsh choral culture.

SUPPORTING ALZHEIMER’S SOCIETY CYMRU

Support for charities and good causes is a central tenet of the male voice choir tradition. This is a charity event in aid of Alzheimer’s Society Cymru, with an initial target of raising £5,000 – and the determination to exceed it.
