D. Huw Rees – Musical Director

Huw Rees, a native of Swansea, studied music at Cardiff University and at that time became a member of the National Youth Choir of Wales and accompanist to several choirs in the Cardiff area.

Huw has been associated with Morriston RFC since 1990 as accompanist, and in 2004 as their Musical Director. This together with his many other involvements makes a significant contribution to the musical life of Wales.

Siân Davies – Piano Accompanist

Siân is a graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, specialising in piano accompaniment.

Over the years Siân has appeared as guest accompanist for singers such as Rebecca Evans, Gail Pearson, Donald Maxwell and has accompanied at Master classes given by Stephen Isserlis and Julian Lloyd Webber.

Jack Harries – Deputy Musical Director

Jack is a proud native of Maerdy in the Rhondda Fach, where his lifelong passion for music was nurtured from an early age. He is currently a member of the world-famous Treorchy Male Choir and serves as Vice President of Côr Meibion Morlais and Patron of Cowbridge Male Voice Choir. An accomplished musician, he has also held Musical Director positions with Abercynon Male Choir and Tonyrefail Ladies Choir.

Kirstie Smith (CMDC Project Hiraeth Musical Director and Accompanist)

Kirstie Smith graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 1989 and is M.D. for CMDC’s English rehearsal group. Since gaining her BA (Hons) degree, PGCE and professional diplomas, Kirstie has taught and directed music in a variety of formal and informal settings. She is a professional musician, Chief Examiner for Rockschool and M.D. for Swindon Male Voice Choir, specialising in choral arranging.
