SAD TIMES AND FOND MEMORIES
During the last 7 weeks the choir has bid farewell to three of our longest serving choristers.
Ken Oats (90) on 22nd December at Cardiff and Glamorgan Crematorium.
Bill Williams (85) on 23rd January at Margam Crematorium.
Barri Hurford-Jones (91) on 26th January in a Thanksgiving Service at St. Helen’s Church, Alveston.
We were afforded the privilege of joining their families and friends to sing our goodbyes to these stalwarts of C.M.D.C. and to share our memories of them all.
These men made a huge contribution to the choir in venues at home and around the globe firstly as choristers and then in Ken’s case as a former committee member and Concert Secretary and loved for his wonderfully mischievous nature. Bill will be remembered as a true gentleman of wise council and ready wit. Barri served with distinction as a former Chairman and latterly as the peerless compere of some 156 concerts.
We thank the families of these our former comrades for the opportunity to say our farewells in song and would wish them to know that we share their sorrow and that their loved ones will remain forever in our hearts.
