The Choir’s last full rehearsal of 2021 was held on Sunday December 5th under the direction of Elaine, our Deputy Conductor. This replaced what in normal times would have been our annual Christmas party. The utmost care was taken to ensure the safety of those attending in respect of vaccinations, testing, temperature monitoring, mask wearing and ventilation.
The chairman Peter Evans, presented small gifts to members of the Ladies Support Group thanking them for their work in support of the choristers. He also honoured Sheenagh Dernie who retired as conductor of the Wantage Group, thanking her for her loyal and professional input since 2004 and appointing her as our latest Vice President. An illuminated certificate was presented by Peter Oliver, a member of the Committee. The Choir were pleased to receive the gift of an arrangement by Sheenagh of ‘A Hebridean Trilogy’.
This was not only a first class rehearsal and an enjoyable occasion but a fitting end to the last difficult year and a half.
